We now have 2 goat pens : 2 female goats we call girls (2 male goats which are being processed July 22nd) in the first pen. Ralphie (stud) and Beaner (weathered) which are our male goats we are keeping. Pup pup (our heard dog) is with the male keepers are in the second pen. We did have a goat get out the day we got them and ran for 3 days until a great neighbor got him in with her goats - Blau, he is getting processed.
Among the homestead we have 3 chickens, who will start laying in a few months. The 2 kittens are getting bigger and have out ran 2 coons we shot over the weekend. The kittens are "kitties" no names really I do like Orey (the black and white male) and Kali ( patches kalico).
As far as the greenhouse - definitely spring / fall item it is to hot and sun is to strong to do any thing in the summer without fan and shade cloth. Although, I have pulled a couple things from the garden outside - 2 yellow squash, 3 tomatoes, 3 cherry tomatoes, a cucumber and some rhubarb. I have lost some plants and nursed some back to health.
We have stocked up on short supply for the feed for the animals. We sourced hay that should last all thru winter. We stocked up on our food supply and this weekend will be processing our first two goats.
We will be picking up our rabbits this Friday - male / female pair for breeding. I have 2 more male kittens coming for the other side of the property where we will be keeping all the feed. We also will be moving our chickens and rabbit pens over.
We ordered the lumber for the cabin, and will be getting the plywood for the floors of the storage shed and cabin next week.
I have lost so much getting here but would not change my journey because it was my own.
